quite an interesting read! just came across this beauty and i quote

Iusualy enjoy reading the things on piston heads... but this has made me think twice about them! Surely a car enthusiat would enjoy all forms of modifying (albeit some forms more then others)....

......sigh....

in the later pages it does go on to say that they aint having a pop at the scene as such, just the fact that sooo mnay people are sheep, one original idea comes out and everybodys doing it!!


also, someone says they would rather see a subtle polo rather than a chavved up corsa

lol, tbh i enjot reading some of the threads on there, dont really post on there, like u all say, its full of tvr owners, or MX5 lovers! they seem to think thats the best ahndling car EVER!

I can't understand why some of you seem to be offended by their opinions - they do love a good rant over there and they go for easy targets. Remember, they're not right, but they're not wrong, they're just expressing their views.

I actually agree with some of it - the dub "scene" - I like most of it, due to it's comedy value (random attire on roof racks) but agree with the point that you seem to see copying - and we're all aware of it.

I just laugh other's comments off - I've even said myself that the term rat-look is often used as an excuse for a shed of a motor.

Totally agree with that mate, that's the way I feel about it but I am not part of "The Dub Scene" so it doesn't bother me.

Dya know, the Dub scene is really different now to what it used to be because a load of Laxpower boys got wind of cool shit happening and wanted a bit of it. You can see them wandering round shows with baggy shorts worn round their arse and a dumb haircut that looks just like their mates.

There's always gonna be wannabees and hangers on with any scene, but to be fair there's loads of us "oldies" that are still here because whilst you wander round the same show that the exlaxpower boys are at with their goldplated engine covers/filler caps/ strut top covers you'll see real fresh ideas, subtle mods, radical engineering and rapid engines.

Yes some cars have had wads of cash thrown at them, but for me the real stars are the cars that are well thought out with the majority of the work carried out in the shed in the back garden. The hairdoo boys will soon get bored and go buy themselves something with a boeing wing on the back and then progress onto a 15 year old "classic" fu**ed up ex track day car.

Let them and let them write on forums about things they don't understand because they just dont get it. Here's to dub innovation across the nation, and to you young 'uns, who are the oldies of the future!!

tbh some people might call me scene or what ever but at the end of the day personally you do the car for your self not any one else iam having a new aprouch at the loop this time may look a bit scene but its not been donr before well some of it ...

Its like bike carbs, i started building up stuff when it wasnt a popular conversion, now 2 years on every fucker has them, cant wait to finish my setup entirely and really mess up the bike carbed VW scene and a few sets of tyres
