| both have similar performance and pants fuel economy, you have to make sure tyres match front and rear otherwise the 4wd system go out of sync on the 4motion etc. 5 cylinder sounds amazing 2.8 v6 is a 24v VR6 and the v5(vr5) is a vr6 with the 1 cylinder chopped off.if you get the later V5 its 170hp too | |

Not sure to be honest, their not extreme power tho. Totally how you drive it i reckon. I really think a v5 is false economy, slower and less sought after than the V6 counterpart. Less enigne mods available too.

| In theory yes,but the v5 is FWD and 5 cylinders are very different animals and i love them, V6 4 motion is special indeed but yes u supposed to change the 4 tyres together, plus the v5 is probably about 100-150kg lighter due to being fwd so its totally up to you - a 5 cylinder has a totally different characteristic to 6. Dude go for a drive in a 5 and go for a drive in a 6 see which one u prefer for smoothness/economy/feel/ and noise etc as at the end of they day all of those is the reason you keep a car
Course that is just my opinion

| Im sure the V6 came with more goodies as standard??? I dont rate the V5 much, they sound decent but dont have much guts in them unless u strap on a turbo, like volvo did with their T5's! But, If ur after power and (abit) more economey, go for a post 2000 Golf Gti turbo, make sure its got an AUM engine code, a simple re-map with no other mods will see it over 200bhp. and they cost alot less than a v6. But, the V6's are rarer, sound better and 4wd.... its a toughie! | |

| In a nutshell, the V6 is better - more power, more well specced ones about with recaro leather, haldex (great for if it snows again).
The V5 sounds great, and if you buy a later 170bhp 20v version (rather than 150bhp 10v) then you'll get the bigger 312mm and 256mm brake setups (but these are already on the V6)
Fuel economy wise - they are similar, but the insurance would be higher on the V6.
The V6 also comes with the twin pipes at the back (look very nice polished up).
Here's Chris Wales top tip - if you want a V5, buy the toledo V5 170, you get all the toys plus half leather electric memory seats, and many came with the MFD nav system too!
