Hi everyone, right i'm wondering which is the safer option to lower the car? Just as a short term solution- Chopping standard springs? Or puttin my 70mm lowerin springs onto standard shocks? Does anyone know if i can buy shocks that will be ok with being that low? Many thanks bendub Smile

70mm springs is safer. It'll knacker shockers in no time thou, standard shocks can take a 40mm drop but after that its good night.

just make sure the spring doesn't come off the spring platform on full droop and it should be ok.

So for this to be safe, i'll need a set of gas shocks? On the last polo i had gas shocks and these 70 springs on, and the rear shock couldn't take it! It started leaking!

no you need a set of uprated shocks with shortened rods and increased damping.

thats in an ideal world.

however the basis for this polo was cheap motoring so why not just buy petrol, insurance and tax - for get about anything else.

Exactly same thing happened the mrs old 6n. Was bouncing unbearably everywhere just with springs, funked the shocks up in 6 months so went for gas, and the rear leaked within a couple of months.

Ur looking at £200 for a set of shortened gmax dampers. They shud be ok. or £350 for a set of kw's

Might aswell go for some Ta tech coliovers, there around the £180 range.

Or go 2nd hand Pirate

Well i bought a set of gmax shocks and springs on the last polo lowered the car 40mm, i then bought the 70mm springs and put them on, the shocks leaked after 3months! Maybe some ebay coilovers will do! £169! Smile lowers up to 120mm! But i only want to go 80 on 15's!
