Is there any laws on it,
IE: Does the person in the towed car have to have a license Does the car have to have MOT or tax
Just incase we come across a police man, and they see me in the polo :/
Thanks Luke | |

| luke the person in the car has to have a licence
and if the car has no tax or mot it has to be moved on an a frame i.e. you cant just tow it, youd have to have it moved properly(recovery truck, blah blah)
thats if you wanna do it all above board and that like

| Doesnt matter about being a registered mech. If it isn't too far away I'd just drive it and hope for the best | |

| yes there are laws
car should not be on the road without tax insurance and mot it is exempt from mot if enroute to mot station or a venue where repairs can be undertaken by a professional for mot (ie mot station)
basically if you want to do it legally it will have to be uplifted - if your going to be a scally you may aswell just drive it as the penalty will be the same.
and anyone in charge of a vehicle must have a licence to drive said vehicle.

| its a 5minute drive, just often police around the area Has been done before at 3:30 AM by my step dad, but this time with it missing a bumper/slam pannel half the door in primer, gives it more attention to be pulled over, may see if i can find anyone with a trailer | |

| ropes are perfectly acceptable to a place of safety, very short distance - bars are basically the same rules but in the eyes of the law they seem better.
A frames for legal cars are fine, ie a recovery - for an illegal (off the road car) not legal, even if most say they " are just a trailor", yeah right a trailor over 750kgs need inertia brakes.... all of those motor homes towing unbraked "non towcars" are effectively breaking the law.

| Done it a few times, its not in any way legal to do but was the easiest thing at the time half the time the car being towed was running under its own power and just had a long rope attached to the car in front for the appearance of being towed should we see a copper. both my Kia's came home like this from about 20 miles away with no issues, but this was a few years back before they got anal about everything. | |

I'll be attempting the same procedure in the next couple of days with my corrado, im gunna just boot it home with sumone infront an behind me, and keep my fingers crossed.

Ye they were, BUT one was supercharged with a shiznit shell and the other had a good shell but dead engine, it used a prototype mazda unleaded engine (in 1994 mazda 121's still used Leaded), and the original dealer did it up as a "show" car and modded it to run a charger. I ended up almost killing myself on the test run in the old shell when i floored it in 4th and lost all grip on the road and ditched. the 2nd shell fared a better until the engine came to an end with a terminal charger failure that took out the block, driveshaft, steering, brakes and part of the drivers foot well, it also left part of the scroll embedded in the track, fooking scary shiznit at 100+MPH with no warning. I should have a pic of the aftermath on one of my old PC's will have a look for it.

| Surely towing a car at stupid o'clock in the morning is more suspicious than doing it in the daytime? Just my thoughts, could well be wrong | |

| yeah but they are looking for young fucks damaging shiznit - aslong as the car looks roadworthy and they dont have ANRP on board youll (cough ur old man) be ok - c`mon out of the drive 100 yards turn right - 300 yards turn left - 100 yards turn right - 700 yards turn left and there it is!!!!!
but in all honesty you dont want to be behind the wheel!

| Fair play then. I know around here anyone towing a car at 3 in the morning would be stopped within the first 100 yard.s | |
