Suggestions for a new motor.

Okay I abandoned the buying the Mk3 Gti due to tax and insurance being high. My girlfriend has given me guidelines for the new car which are, it has to be low on tax so we are talking 1.0 to 1.3l. It can't be old for some reason so nothing before R reg really and low mileage and a reasonable price. I am not a fan of Polo's I think they are a bit girly I think I have more chance of find rocking horse shiznit than finding a car me and the Mrs will like.

Yeah I tested the water with a mk3 1.9 diesel and she wasn't having it.

a MK4 1.4 16V Golf must be painfully slow

I want a MK3 Polo coupe, my plan is that if I keep bothering her that she will just let me have one to keep me quiet.

mk4 1.4 wouldnt be that bad would it ? mk4 tdi ?

I imagine a MK4 1.4 would not move under it's own weight and would probably struggle going up Llangefni/Rhuallt hills.

How much was insurance on a GTi?

Me and my girlfriend driving both the Beamer and the golf for 126 a month. But it's fuel and tax and that sort of thing that will make it expensive.
