looking for disc anyone know any bargains?

hi im jus doing a bit of shoppin for me golf atm

im looking for a set of
rear dirilled and groved dic for a gti 8v
front drilled and groved disc for a gti 8v

there are some on ebay 55 pounds posted new


anyone know if there are any cheaper deals


i might put a picture of my rear disc, just so u can all lugh at how fukd it is

they work fine, bit noisey, theyre jus delphi ones like wot ces sell as standard replacement that sum engineerin firm have drilled.

ces with vagwales discount is the only place you might get any cheaper ones id av thought

id buy std rears then save your pennies for g60 fonts - but i have heard lenzos dont fit over the proper 280mm caliper

my rs's didnt fit over my 280mm calipers either, rim bolts hit the caliper by only a few mm but didnt know till i changed my pads an couldnt put the wheel back on!

an yeh save up for g60 fronts, best way by miles to get gud brakes on your mk2

my braks inthe front now are fine ish, (by tht i mean they wrk lol)

but my rears are fuked

i would love g60 front discs, but then i would need the calipers, and the hub an the carriers, but it depends on how much theeyll cost,, cus i dnt want to chnge my front wheels for a longggg while, and their only 15s :s

do you have a proper g60 setup as RMs were std equipment of G60 so i would have thought RS would be fine at 16"...

thats what i thought.

my rs's are 15" 001's an were 7" et25 an i think rm's are 6.5" et35 so the depths arent exactly the same an all it took was a bit of grindin to the caliper to make them clear. Pikey i know but it was that or walk home.

weren't rs001 an option for g60's tho?

An i think my calipers might be off an early mk3 vr6?? think they did make them 280mm 4stud for a bit? but i've never checked etka to see if they did an if theyr the same

cant find any hubs on ebay

im tempted to get 16v hubs for mine, cus their 256mm

and 8v are 239s

i got a few sets of hubs, old n rusty but ideal for a clean up!

only got one set of '60 carriers tho an theyr on hold for someone an i havnt got any spare calipers.

the early mk3 gti and vr calipers are the same units as those fitted to the G60 (the carriers are the same too)..

RS`s must be a tad ghey in 15" then as they would poke a bit more with that offset too..

u gt any 16v hubs? with the carriers?

nah mate the 280 disc is wider, you can get away with the 16v caliper but you cant use new pads or you need to grind down the hex on the slider pin...

8v calipers use an integrated carrier on the hub... so they are basically crap and of no use lol

early 8v and 16v have 280s - laters use 288s

mk3 hubs will work but have 5 stud on gti - id try get mk2 16v hubs and a set of calipers off an early mk3 gti - i have some 2nd hand grooved 280 discs lol

i have carriers and calipers - no hubs

most the hubs i've got are off passats with 256mm solid discs so the calipers an carriers are fairly useless but the hubs are the same as 16v ones.

U can hav a pair for £20

so dan has hubs and i have either 256 or 280 carriers and calipers.... nd some shoddy 2nd hand grooved discs that were only removed cos i wanted new ones
