snow tires

i was on my way to sumwhare (ipswitchish) earlier and on the way i couldnt help but notice loads of little hatches , clio`s pug`s fiesta`s etc all with skinny tires stuck or going the wrong way because of the snow.

i`ve also been lectured meany times that skinny tires are better in the snow

well if that is the case it must be down to abnormaly poor driving how all these cars were getting stuck as i got all the way over the crimea pass and have been boming it round all week on snow with no dramas on 195s. which has made me prety sure that wide tires are the way forward in any circumstance

any one actually driven skinnys to compare, i been thinking of swaping my rims for a set of corsa steelies i got lyin round just to see if its better :S

skinny tyres are better in DEEP snow, as they cut through easier.

tbh any tyre on ice isnt great, but snow tyres do help. VEREDISTEIN ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

saab has chunky alpine tyres fitted and goes everywhere, saxo has winters on goes well, i on theo ther hand am quite enjoying being able to handbrake into my drive and have yet to get stuck.

with the weight of the polo a set of 10J wheels would be epic as it would have a big enough surface to just drive on top.

That would be awesome! I wish Mk3s had wider arches!
