Lupo Burning Oil Empty
PostSubject: Lupo Burning Oil   Lupo Burning Oil EmptyMon Nov 14 2011, 19:47

Basically have a Lupo 1.4 16v and it's using a lot of oil and Mrs reported that it lost power and it did sound like it was not firing on all cylinders. I've topped it up with oil and gone round with some WD40 seems okay now but check engine light is still on and I'm sure it will be low on oil again in about 1k miles. Anyone else got the same issue or know of it happening on Lupos? What's the best oil to be using in too seems the oil goes piss thin everytime I check it.

Cheers! Very Happy

According to AutoData 10w/40 or 15w/40

Cold Climate says 5w/30.

Is it smoking at all while driving? If it is does it only smoke on start up/ pulling off from standing or all the time?

No smoke at all apparently the valve seals are common to fail on these so explains the oil disappearing. Going to try some 5w-30 in it later when my mrs finishes work and see how it goes.

Valve seals would create smoke when starting or pulling away.

Aaaah, well definitely no smoke so that's a positive sign. Engine management light has gone off anyway so this weekend it's fetting some fresh oil and a new brake light bulb when I find how to get access to the bulbs. Very Happy
