| Basically i have a lovely little polo 1.4 8v 6n great solid engine just wondering if i can find a mk2 Shell how hard would it be to put the engine and gearbox in????? Any thoughts, tips or help would be much appreciated Cheers Ben | |

| well i've got the whole car ere using it as a daily just had the engine (head) done and it's solid now! just thought a mk2 1.4 would be cheap to run and insure and i can't find many tidy low mileage mk2's anymore so i'll build one! | |

| Run yes.
Insurance might bite you ddo, as its still classed as an engine conversion.
Example being mk3 polo's, insuring an original GT is cheaper than insuring a CL thats had a GT engine fitted.
If you get hold of a 1.3 engined golf then you can circumnavigate it as the engines are identical (expect for carb over injection). | |

| I would do what cymro said, buy a solid 1.3 engined golf or shell and drop the 1.4 engine and not tell anyone (insurance) ;-) | |
