So a mate of mine has a MK1 that's his pride and joy amongst his several cars. This one in particular, he is using as his wedding car in just over a week. The front wings, he had not long finished repairing and spraying himself which required flatting and polishing up to a suitable standard and the rest of the car has been stood for a few years allowing him to tinker with it but also having tree sap, bird faeces and oxidisation on the paint. As a favour, he wanted me to carry out the work. Due to the extremely short timeframe (2 evenings) as he wanted it so soon I haven't taken many photos. The paint had a dark grey colour to it with white spots all over from the dried rainfall etc.
This again, was strictly paintwork as I didn't have the time to do other areas and he will be able to treat the wheels, arches, bumpers. I bought a new compound and machine to carry out this job.
Products used:
Silverline Silverstorm rotary
Lake country polishing pads
Lake country finishing pads
Menzerna fast gloss
Menzerna power finish
Menzerna final finish
Dodo born slippy
Fine clay bar
Auto Glym EGP
The car was washed and then clayed. Not much came off the car (but it has been stood for good time) apart from some signs of paint which must have been overspray as you could feel it on the paint afterwards. Both wings needed wet sanding as did a couple of other panels. The owner is purchasing a wax of his choice and then applying it to the car.
Here's some of the after photos.
Couple of reflections from the bonnet.
As mentioned, the owner is treating the bumpers etc as I didn't have time.
The wing has sealant curing.
The owner is also going to forward me photos from his big day which I will then add to this thread.
