| Right its coming to that time where im going for a car again...
Aiming for the 10th June, its a mk2 GTI 8V, small bumper.... its been parked up since November when the heater matrix blew...
Its a known car around deeside, and is very very clean....
Im just worried at the fact its not got MOT, and the owner has said there is play in the column... from reading up the steering column is a huge job.... How many hours would anyone say?
I dont want it to fail on loads where its gonna cost me an arm and a leg to sort, ive been in that situation too many times
Has anyone got a guide to the column replacement? along with the bottom bearing, The matrix is fine its a day job, but the column im unsure of...
Thanks, Luke | |

| I may be wrong but doesnt the engine have to come out to replace that, if it does that will be the most time consuming, but you can find most parts for a mk2 pretty cheap | |

| No that's the steering rack... Already been done when troubleshooting this issue... Gonna ring my local garage and they'll give me a price | |

| Without sounding a bit too odd... would you not be better off just buying one that doesn't have this problem... you could shop around instead of buying the first thing you see which I think is your most common mistake | |

| Paul I've been looking for months, this one has a good history, and is seriously clean.. I won't be relying on it for a daily basis also... I've looked at a few mk2s and other cars and this is by far the best I've found / seen just the steering column is the one thing making me think :/ | |
