i had these on a mk2 golf i bought ages ago - useless unless you have an illuminated needle - as they the original clocks rely on the front lighting to illuminate the needle too.

ended up givng them to some chav who loved the fact he did`nt know what speed he was doing and they changed from blue to green - oh and the guy who fitted them bent all the needles so the car never had full tank of fuel or did over 70 as the simply hit the clock facia and stopped... proper LOL

Have thought about that and in the process of working it out. lol
