bout time i found this site...

Hello everyone, my name's dan, i live near clynnog (on the c'fon to pwllheli road) an drive a black mk2 gti 8v, used to drive a black mk1 gti but thats my project now. Always bin into dubs an im a proper mk1 fanatic! Phew, that felt like a confession! My names dan and i have an addiction...

Only jus found the site or id have registered ages ago, seen so many of the cars on here when i've bin out an about. There are a lot of very nice dubs around, and its gud to see so many mk1s in the area!

Think i must know a few lads on here, used to spend a lot of time on the island near holyhead way an i've bin a mechanic for years now (if anyone local needs a gud cheap vw specialist mechanic... )

Hi mate, havn't really got any pics of the mk1, its a rollin shell with a giant stack of parts next to it at the moment. gona b special tho got most the bits i want, jus paint & bodywrk next then the rebuild..

You from llanfaethlu? Seen your mk1 a few times, its well nice but dont think i ever met you though. Im the lad that was with charlotte with the red mini for years..

Yeah I am, shud av stopped to hav a chat mate. Wer u the loon that went past doin a hundred an ten late at nite ? lol If you want a hand with anything, more than willing to help. Gud @ makin tea lol. Seeing your a "specialist", have you ever attempted to remove the injector housing on the 8v ? Seem to have lost one of the injector filters inside the head. Ther seems to be an allen key fitting at the top. I've ordered the correct size 13mm (stupid size as usuall), not sure if I should attempt it ? Think its a brass fitting, would heating the engine up make a difference to the removal do you think ?

Ha ha! Shouldnt have written that.. Well, from "experience" the insert isnt brass its sum brittle brown plastic stuff that breaks easy. If you take the inlet manifold off you can see straight down to the valve an its a bigger hole to get it back out of. Inlets not hard to get off, just a bit awkward. might be easier in the long run tho..
