mk4 Golf stress...

in need of an engine, any engine, aslong as it comes with the gearbox and ECU...
got Daz123's mk4 off him (again)

1.4 engines are like rocking horse pooooop
& I'm getting bored of not having it running!

I might just stick a 2.0 8v from a '03 Golf in
or maybe a VR6...

any suggestions?

V6, 1.8T or R32

i wanted to play with the VR6 lump in it but I haven't got the patients to fiddle with it haha
might just go for a 1.4 direct replacement and then shove an R32 kit on...

Although you can't beat the sound from a V6 many of the mk4 boys are throwing 1.8T lumps in theirs. The v6 (although powerful) is heavy. The standard 150 1.8T lump is easily tuneable and can do over 200 bhp after a map and, filter and exhaust work. If you can get the audi 225 1.8T lump from the TT, it's internals are alot stronger so can handle having the excess power alot better.

BTW don't even bother with the 2.0 8V, it only produces 115 bhp. You'd be better off with a lower sized engine than that.
