| Have just had the water pump and cam belt changed on my mk3 1.0 polo.
Today discovered a brown/yellow mess in the oil filler cap. Am guessing it is mayonnaise?
Would the fact that the water pump has just been changed cause this or am I looking at a blown head gasket? (header tank is pressurising)
Also car is reluctant to start. Is this linked?
What are your opinions folks?
Thanks | |

| give it a good long run as mayo can be caused by condensation from short journeys. if you're losing water and there's no visible leak then it's probably into the oil i.e. head gasket. changing the waterpump shouldn't have caused this unless you topped up the water into the oil fill | |

| Cheeky!!!
no not losing any water.
Think am going to take it to the garage first thing and see what they say! Fingers crossed is condensation and not head gasket!!!! | |

| I would just get a packet of chips.. that'd clear the mayo up | |

| /\ /\ /\ /\ very helpful that, well done might be worth checkin your breathers, a blockage can give similar symptoms to headgasket fuckage. failin that, id flush the coolant and oil systems and see what happens. if it is a headgasket job, should be a piece of cake on one of them, so cant see a garage chargin you sh*t loads. good luck........ | |
