After the car sometimes having to turn over quite a few times to start but sometimes being fine i thought it would be because the car had a dodgey battery but it started to get better. so thought that id change the fuel filter and see if that made a difference. today, the car wouldnt turn over at all when i went to start it so i rolled it back and managed to get it to start. however my dad said he saw a wire from the starter motor spark when it was turning over... Not a master with cars by any means so probably just spoe a load of shit Rolling Eyes Any ideas would be great, assuming this means new starter motor or at least checking the earth etc.

I would check all of the wiring first incase anything is loose, check the starter is getting the right voltage, you can also take the starter out and connect up some jumpers to make sure its not faulty.
I find bad earths and bad batteries cause loads of starting issues.

Its been a while but had it sorted with a new battery and lots of tightening earths! Shocked
The little fuse thing on top of the battery for the earth had broken so replaced that too and no problems now! Laughing
