My GTI did 50mpg on the way to Liverpool airport and 47 on the way back. I wasn't in the lorries slipstream I just wasn't hammering it for a change...so...Diesel...WOT?!

i regurlarly was getting 43 mpg out of a 140k mk2 8v gti...
managed to get the vr6 220 miles on £33 quid yesterday 32mpg...
i am lucky to see 48 mpg out of my corsa derv (but its the cost of the diesel that makes it worth while)

indeed, and it passed emmisions test on thurs with a 40/60 blend of old oil and derv ha.
