Golf MK4 Latch Problem

Hi guys just wondering if you could shed some light on this problem im having.

Ive got a mk4 golf and recentley been having trouble with my central locking.

i am not able to lock the car on the key fob only way is to use the switch on the drivers door panel to lock the N/S and tail gate doors and the open the drivers door and lock the drivers door with the key.

The door when shut has the light on at the bottom to say as if the door is open ? but the door locks from the inside just not off the fob :S but its not the key as the two spare ones are excatlly the same, so im a bit puzzled do they have a microswitch on them or something that is likley to go but surely the whole latch would stop working if that failed ?

maybe a faulty door module, really common fault.
You could do with getting it checked with vagcom.

Sounds daft... but disconnect the battery and leave the car for a few hours. Re-connect and see if its sorted. Like i say it sounds daft but has worked on the c/l in my mk3 before now.

Hi cheers for the replys guys, faulty door module ? seperate from the latch or is it a complete door latch assy with module ?
