| hi im convertin my mk1 (citi) to a tdi for econamy and so i can pull a tow bar (for the campaign project). I need a mk3 TDI engine that was in production in a 5 door in 1994. explanation : the problem i have is geting insurance. when i get quotes I put my numberplate in (m634fug) and coz its an import no one can find the car details - so i put 1994 as year of manufacture - colour white - 5 door - and finaly i get a list of options to chose from - all of which are mk3 engine sizes 1.4cl , 2.0 8v , 2.0 16v , 1.9 tdi etc . if i notify dvla of the conversion ad get the v5 changed to a 1.9 tdi then on paper im being completely honest and am in the clear if anything hapens because there is no question as to what mk the car is they make assumptions whith the year (1994) | |

| i was thinking about doing this conversion.using 90/110 mk3 engine but funds are low as usual.can be done relatively easy in comparison to PD engines. The 110 with bigger intercooled/decatted exhaust and chip will give 135-140hp.Wiring a pain in the add tho.

| All TDIs were five door mate in the MK3s. Make sure and get the proper 90 BHP TDI, alot of people advertise the TD engine as TDI and its not as tuneable. They are quiet easy to tune up to 150bhp, so good luck with it!! | |

| 1.9TD AAZ would be the easiest and cheapest conversion. Replacing the original boost pin with a Rover VE Boost Pin makes one hell of difference. Then add intercooler....you'll have a flying derv! | |

its k m8 , i happen to have a mk3 intercooler already lol the brackets r proken on it but i tested it nd its still airtight. what are the econamy advantages of tdi as opose to td ? are they worth considdering, id imagine a td would be a dodle to fit compared to a tdi?

| TD is straight forward, tdi has ECU and you will need to chop and change your wiring loom. Lot's of messing about for little gain imo. | |

you say chop and change, at mo im runing on carb so wouldnt it be easyer to change the whole loom if i could get hold of a donor car rather than mess around?
