I just touched cloth!! Pinch pull test needed!

One of my adaptor just failed and the centre ring snapped off leaving my wheel spinning like an egg with the bolts coming lose. I near shiznit my pants lucky i was only doing 20mph and the littlen wasnt in the car.
Gonna get the engineers to bore out the crapy FK adaptors and replace them with a 6mm thick insert for the centre bore.

I could have easily been killed if i was doing 70mph

thanks mate, feeling pretty lucky and no damage. Trying to get it sorted Monday but it might be too soon to get it sorted. gutted as i need the money to sort the timing chain. The way it goes i guess

yea it does. PSI quoted me £900 to change it but the vw techies on VR6 owners club say the chain is a lifetime part so on the later vr's you can get away with changing the top guide / hydraulic (sp?) tensioner bolts and various parts witout going the whole hog. This is about £140 but doesnt guarantee the chain isnt stretched and may need changing anyway.

115k about 100 is right for sorting the tensioners / chains

true i will just have to get the top done and see how it runs after as it may not need the chain doing
